Bay area native, Stephen Mealing or “The Loyalist”, utilizes his musical talent to bring a captivating blend of uplifting harmonies and minimalistic bass chords. Stephen, a fan of Mixcraft 7 pr studio, has been producing for 5 years and describes his sound as “mostly Lo-Fi Hip-Hop and Future bass.” True to mass EDM enthusiast’s, powerhouse DJs Skrillex and House Mafia, have influenced Stephen greatly. Interestingly, Stephen also dabbles in Christian EDM, pulling inspiration from underground producers, Capital Kings and Matthew Parker. Stephen has fascination with nostalgia as an emotion, and expresses that he’s always try to capture that feeling in his writing and music. This is exemplified in his first EP, “Beautiful Imperfection”, which encompasses soft hitting vocals, layered synth notes, and wooden instruments to give it a meditative, dancey atmosphere. Outside of being a producer, Stephen is a novelist and avid thrifter, poppin’ tags. With three EP’s out, and a 2nd future collab with Light-Foot in the works, we can expect more vibe-worthy material from this up and coming creative mind.

Stories is a bouncy, future bass tune composed of fast paced drum beats, Flume inspired synth chords, and seamless chopped vocals giving it a light hearted, soulful vibe. The Loyalist describes this one as a “great song that just kind of wrote itself, and the pieces just came together.”

Midnight Bumpin’ is a low fi, head nodder. Close your eyes and vibe to the electric guitar melody, harp nuances, and arpeggiated piano samples. Inspiration for this track from an experience Stephen had while night driving under the moon, “I had gone out driving late in the mountains with a buddy and I wanted to capture that emotion in a song.”
